Michael Barker

Michael Barker is a software developer with a variety of experience working a number of industry sectors (Telecoms, Government, Finance). His first foray into Free & Open Software came in 1999 at the University of Auckland contributing to GNU R. In late 2004 he got fully involved in Open Source by becoming a core contributor to what is now the Meldware Communication Suite project. Initially responsible for the streaming mail store, now there are few parts of the mail server that he hasn't worked on. In addition Michael has made contributions to Postgres, GNU Classpath and JBoss.

Michael occasionally blogs at blog.buni.org mostly about the technical issues he stumbles into. In his spare time Michael enjoys tennis, snowboarding, traveling and coming up with excuses not to finish painting the house.
